🚄 The Madrid ↔ Málaga train
The route
Direct high-speed trains link Madrid Puerta de Atocha and Málaga María Zambrano (right downtown) in 2h30–3h — no changes. Roughly 15–20 departures a day, from about 6:00 AM to about 9:30 PM, so mornings, afternoons and evenings are all covered.
Our pick: the AVE
We took the AVE ourselves and can't recommend it enough — punctual, silent, comfortable, and the Premium/Confort seats feel like business class on rails. Book through the official AVE link: avetrenes.com — it's the one we used.
For our dates
Heading south September 4–6 and back to Madrid September 8–9, there are trains all day long. Book about 3+ weeks ahead (roughly 35% cheaper) and always double-check exact times for your date when booking — timetables firm up close to travel.

🚗 The last stretch
Airport → downtown Málaga
The Cercanías C1 train runs from the airport to María Zambrano and Centro-Alameda every 20 minutes (~12 min ride). A taxi into town is about €25–30.
Airport → the wedding hotel
About 50 minutes by car. Renting is the comfortable move — Sixt, Europcar, Avis, Hertz and Enterprise all operate at the airport AND at María Zambrano station — and the hotel has plenty of free parking.

No car?
No problem. We'll provide transportation between the wedding hotel and the white party, taxis are easy to arrange from the hotel reception, and we'll make sure there are taxis at the end of the wedding night.
